Manchmal braucht es einen äußeren Anlass, damit ich ein Projekt endlich fertigstelle. Also hier ist mein Geburtstagsgeschenk für meine Mutter. (Größe 50 x 50 cm)

Sometimes I need a reason to finish a project. So here is the birthday present for my mom.

Diese Arbeit war wirklich eine große Herausforderung, aber jetzt ist sie fertig geworden. Die Größe schüchterte mich schon ein wenig ein : 120 x 45 cm. Wird schwierig einen Platz dafür zu finden.

This work really was a big challenge, but now it´s done. Rather big : 120 x 45 cm, now I have to find a place for it.

Im April 2013 habe ich an einem Workshop bei Cécile Trentini teilgenommen. Das Thema war “Landschaftsquilt”. Ich hatte damals einen Entwurf gemacht und nie damit begonnen. Ihr erinnert euch : 4 Babyquilts und 2 große Quilts usw. im letzten Jahr. Ein Grund war aber auch, dass mir diese Aufgabe gehörigen Respekt abverlangt hat. Doch nun habe ich begonnen. Mit sehr viel Versuch und Irrtum, technischen Problemen ( mindestens 4 zerbrochene Nadeln und ettliche Fadennester) taste ich mich so langsam vor. Ich denke, die Aufgabe ist noch einige Nummern zu groß für mich, aber ich lerne…..

In April 2013 I took part in a workshop of Cécile Trentini. It was about landscape-quilts. I did some sketches and never started to work. You remember : 4 babyquilts, 2 big quilts etc last year. But the main reason not to start: it would be a big big challenge for me.

Now I thought I feel strong enough. But I have to struggle with a lot of trial and error and technical problems ( at least 4 broken needles, balls of thread) but slowly I´m stepping forward.  I think it is a bit out of my league, but I´m learning….

Mein großer handgenähter Quilt ist nie richtig fertig geworden. Fäden abschneiden, kleine lose Enden vernähen und noch einige unfertige Stücke annähen – dazu hatte ich nie richtig Lust und es gab immer etwas Spannenderes zu tun. Doch jetzt ist genau die richtige Zeit zum Beenden.

My big handsewn magic cloth was never finished. There are only smal things to do, cutting thread, mending little pieces and so on. No it is the perfect time to finish.

Ich habe dieses Stück während Judes online class “What if” begonnen. Und jetzt, wo ich hier sitze und auf meine Knie OP warte, dachte ich: das ist doch eine gute Zeit, angefangene Stücke fertig zu machen. Das bessert vielleicht die Stimmung und lenkt ab. Also, ein wenig hat es geklappt. Weiß auf einer weißen Wand ist natürlich nicht so gut zu fotografieren, also deshalb noch einmal und ein paar Ausschnitte. Ach ja, alles handgenäht. 

I started this piece in Judes online class “What – if”. And now – sitting here and waiting for my knee surgery – I thought, that will be a perfect time to finish some ufos. Perhaps it is a good distraction and gives a better mood. Right!

Ich habe es geschafft, den 4. Baby Quilt im Jahr 2013! Ich wünsche mir jetzt mal ne kleine Pause, aber das nächste Baby hat sich für Februar angekündigt. Na ja, es soll erst mal ein wenig wachsen. Meine Quilts gibts immer etwas später, dafür sind sie auch größer und können noch lange verwendet werden.

I did it! The 4th baby quilt this year. I need a little rest but the the next baby will come in february. It has to wait a little bit. My Quilts always come with delay. But they are a little larger so they can be used longer.
